Maxine L. Dunton
ROCKWELL, IOWA
Maxine L. Dunton, 78, of First Street North, Rockwell, passed away Friday (Oct. 20, 1995) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, from complications of renal failure.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today at the Rockwell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Dodge officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Falls Cemetery.
Visitation was held 2 p.m. on Monday at the Fullerton Funeral Home, Rockwell.
Maxine was born on Dec. 31, 1916, near Rock Falls, the daughter of James Hutzell and Glee (nee) Nicholas Hutzell.
She attended rural school and then the Rock Falls High School.
On Dec. 1, 1935, she was united in marriage to Leslie Dunton in Albert Lea, Minn., and to this union were born two children.
Maxine was a caring adviser to the 4-H and other youth groups as well as being a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Dougherty Domestic Club and a former member of the ladies of the Moose.
She operated Maxine's Sundries and also helped her husband with the farm work.
Her favorite activities were playing all types of card games and attending all athletic, school and church activities her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in.
Along with her daughter, Dixie and her husband, Bud Berger, Rockwell; she will be sadly missed by her two sisters, Virginia Calvert of Salinas, Calif., and Jean Morris of Clear Lake; two brothers, Howard and his wife, Marlys Hutzell of Pisgah; and Dean and his wife, Georgia Hutzell of Cornelius, Ore; three special granddaughters, Deb and her husband, Greg Jones of Rockwell; Tami and her husband, Loren Winfrey of Belmond, and Kristi and her husband, John Murphy of Rockwell; one grandson, Bob Berger of Mason City and his fiance, Ally Monson of Clear Lake; eight great-grandchildren, Brent, Bradley and Bryon Jones, all of Rockwell; Lucas, Tanner, Trevor, Colton, and Jace Winfrey of Belmond; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband in February of 1974; one infant son, David; her parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald "Bud".
