Snorre Sturlason,  Heimskringla (or The Lives of the Norse Kings), The University Press, Cambridge, 1931, Edited with notes by Erling Monsen and translated into English with the assistance of A.H. Smith. [Copies of this particular edition of the book are rather rare and tend to be expensive.]

This book is an interesting study of the pre-Norman Vikings. It was originally written in old Norse by Snorre Sturlason who lived from 1178-1241. The"Heimskringla" can also be found at this on-line location.
